Michael is the founding partner of Manhattan Innovation Lab, an early-stage business accelerator, investment, and consulting firm. Michael has substantial experience guiding young companies through the process of revenue generation, partnership development, and turnaround as they transition to viable businesses. Client companies operate in digital entertainment, project management software, and financial services. Prior to launching Manhattan Innovation Lab, Michael built the Consumer Financial Services practice at consulting firm Kurt Salmon. There, he applied extensive hands-on, multinational and cross-industry experience to refine, reshape and re-engineer his clients' businesses. He was the architect of the Financial Services Innovation, Business Incubation, and Human Capital Optimization solution sets at the firm. Michael shaped the firm's point of view on consumer payments innovation, including mobile payments, and he is frequently looked to for his perspective on this rapidly evolving industry sector.
Michael has helped clients operate effectively in highly regulated environments, including restructuring risks and information management functions to align business objectives, processes, and operational needs. Michael's work has included interaction with multiple regulatory entities including the FDIC, OCC, FRBNY, CFPB, and UDFI.
As Managing Director with MasterCard Advisors, Michael focused on the needs of leading banks and payment companies in the Americas. He built MasterCard's consulting services business in Latin America, blending industry knowledge with consulting skills. He has advised some of the largest banks and card issuers in North and South America on marketing, customer lifecycle management, credit risk, and information management - always with a basis in long-term strategy. Michael led the successful re-launch and re-engineering of MasterCard's U.S. consulting business, quadrupling revenue, driving up profitability and expanding billings in just two years.
Michael is former Chairman of the Board and active member of the executive committee for The Resource Foundation and a non-executive board member of WebTuner/Showfer Media, an early-stage media technology company. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in business.
